New Lives for Old Cars

Cars are built for driving. So, when a car is no longer able to be driven, does that mean it period of usefulness has come to an end? Not if you ask someone in the auto wrecking industry! This is an industry that has been built on the premise that old cars still have new uses ahead of them. Auto wreckers take old cars that don't drive, and they disassemble them. In parts and pieces, those cars are still useful. Some parts can be used to fix other damaged cars. Others can be recycled into raw materials. We love the concept of giving old cars new purpose, and we're excited to write about it.

Get Cash For Your Junk Car In 3 Easy Steps

Junk cars can easily become an eyesore on your property and take up valuable outdoor living space. Thankfully, eliminating these issues and getting some cash for your junk car can be a straightforward process. Below you can learn more about the three easy steps to sell your junk car for cash.

Step 1: Getting A Quote

The first thing you will need to do is get a quote from a local auto salvage or scrap metal yard to purchase your vehicle. This process is typically completed either over the phone or online. To complete this process you will be asked to provide some very basic information about your vehicle. For example, you will be asked about the car's make and model, the vehicle's current mileage, and the vehicle's current condition. All of these questions are designed to help potential buyers determine the value of the car. Once you have provided this information, you will typically receive a quote within a matter of minutes. If you are happy with the quote you receive, you will be ready to move on to the next step. If you are unhappy with the quote you receive, repeat this step with other potential buyers until you receive an offer you wish to accept.

Step 2: Proving Ownership

Before you can complete the sale of your junk car, you will first need to provide documentation proving you are the rightful owner of the vehicle. This step is usually completed in person when the tow truck arrives to pick up your car. To prove ownership, you will be asked to provide the title to your vehicle showing that you are the owner and that there are no liens against the vehicle. If you do not have this documentation, you may be required to provide registration documents listing you as the owner. In some cases, you may also be required to sign a legal document attesting to the fact that you are the owner and that no one else has legal rights to the vehicle. This document is often referred to as an affidavit of ownership and is most commonly used when an individual does not have the title for their vehicle.

Step 3: Collecting Payment

Once both of the previous steps have been completed, you will be given a cash payment by the tow truck driver that has come to collect your vehicle. Your junk car will then be towed away and the process will be complete.
